Astro

The fascination of the universe – The first astro photo shows the constellation Cygnus, a small section of our breathtaking Milky Way, of which our planet Earth is only a tiny part. Twenty images with an exposure time of 30 seconds each, an aperture of f4.0 and ISO800 were required for this photo, which was taken with a tracker that follows the movement of the Earth's orbit and automatically stacked or merged using the Sequator programme.

The second photo shows my attempt to photograph a Perseid. Out of countless photos, a shooting star actually streaked across the image. The Perseids, or Tears of St. Lawrence, named after the constellation Perseus, from which direction they appear to come, are an annual meteor shower that occurs in August. They are caused when the Earth passes through the debris clouds of the comet Swift-Tuttle.
